Introduction to SSI Intro Tec Course

The SSI Intro Tec course is designed for certified open water scuba divers who wish to expand their diving knowledge and skills by exploring the fundamentals of technical diving. This introductory course serves as a gateway for divers looking to transition from recreational diving to more advanced techniques and equipment used in technical diving.

Course Overview

1. Purpose of the Course: The SSI Intro Tec course aims to provide participants with the foundational skills and knowledge necessary for technical diving. It introduces divers to new gear, procedures, and theories that enhance safety and efficiency underwater.

2. Prerequisites: To enroll in this course, participants must meet certain requirements:

   • Minimum age of 18 years (or 15 with parental consent).

   • Must hold a minimum certification of SDI Open Water Scuba Diver or an equivalent certification.

   • Proof of at least 25 logged open water dives is required.

3. Course Content: During the SSI Intro Tec course, participants will learn about:

   • New types of scuba gear specifically designed for technical diving.

   • Advanced dive planning techniques.

   • Gas management strategies.

   • Situational awareness and proper trim.

   • Gear configuration and selection tailored for technical dives.

4. Diving Experience: The course includes one dive with a maximum depth of 12 meters (approximately 40 feet). This practical experience allows divers to apply what they have learned in a controlled environment.

5. Duration and Cost: The entire course lasts one day, during which all necessary scuba diving gear is provided at no additional cost. As of January 2025, the price for the SSI Intro Tec course is approximately 11,760 PHP per person, inclusive of VAT.

6. Location: The SSI Intro Tec classes are conducted at Scotty’s Dive Center, located within the Shangri-La Hotel in Mactan, Cebu Province, Philippines. Participants can either walk in or arrange for pickup from their hotel.
